He found that so-called antiferromagnets allow data writing up to a thousand times faster than conventional storage media
Physicist Tomáš Jungwirth laid the foundations of a new field - antiferromagnetic spinotronics. The essence of his discovery from 2018 is antiferromagnets, a substance with special behavior in the passage of electric current. The team managed to prove that writing data is up to a thousand times faster than conventional storage media.
They also managed to create a chip that can be connected to conventional electronics. This discovery brings the promise of a revolution in information technology. It is one in four members of an international team of physicists who reported observations of the spin Hall effect.
We are proud of the discovery of physicist Tomáš Jungwirth, whose antiferromagnets revolutionize IT and the speed of digital data writing.
He was awarded the Neuron 2018 Prize in Physics for this remarkable scientific discovery.
