Neuron Prize 2022 for Promising Scientists in chemistry

Mgr. Mariya Shamzhy, Ph.D.

For research on porous materials

Mariya Shamzhy addresses one of the long-standing key challenges in materials science – understanding how heterogeneous catalysts facilitate chemical reactions at the atomic level. Her research focuses on synthesising new types of zeolites, characterising them, and explaining their catalytic properties. The results so far promise new concepts for inorganic chemistry or chemical engineering. Mariya Shamzhy graduated from Lomonosov University and received her PhD degree at the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Today, she works at the Faculty of Science at the Charles University, where she leads her own research group.
