Prof. Grubhoffer works at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, and at the Institute of Parasitology, Czech Academy of Sciences. Along with other colleagues, he is involved in research related to protection against ticks and tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease.

Prof. Grubhoffer studied biochemistry at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague, and microbiology / virology at the Serum and Vaccine Research Institute in Prague. Since 1991, he has been head researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology with the Institute of Parasitology. From 1994 to 2002, he was Managing Director of the Institute of Parasitology. In 2001 he was appointed Professor of molecular and cellular biology and genetics. Still in 2001, he became Pro-rector of the University of South Bohemia responsible for international relations (2001-2004) and later Dean of the Faculty of Science (2004-2011).

He has authored over 110 publications in impact magazines, he has been principal investigator and co-investigator of grants from the Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Science Foundation and several international research projects.
