Jan Trlifaj

Member of the Scientific council of Mathematics

His research centers on the representation theory of algebras and related fields of algebra, geometry and logic. Since 1990, he has worked at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. He has attended a number of research and lecture programs at international institutions (Postdoctoral Fellow of the Royal Society at University of Manchester, J.W. Fulbright Scholar at University of California, Irvine, Visiting Professor at University of Nanjing etc.). Since 2017, member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic.

Today, mathematics is a very large field that covers a broad range of results, methods and applications. Just as the 20th century saw the fall of various ideologies, ideological approaches in science (i.e., preference for a single method, school of thought, teaching approach, etc.) have become obsolete. Major research results require application of various methods and in-depth knowledge of several specialized fields.
