We award cutting-edge Czech science with Neuron Prizes

Since 2009 we have been awarding Neuron Prizes to first-class scientists who are impacting the state of knowledge in biology, computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, medicine and the social sciences.

THREE CATEGORIES OF NEURON PRIZES

Neuron Prize for Contribution to World Science

We award the prize to up to three eminent representatives of Czech science operating at home or abroad whose scientific work or discovery has contributed to developing their scientific field, who increase the prestige of the Czech Republic and who are role models and inspiration for whole scientific community. The laureate receives 1,500,000 Czech crowns. The laureate is chosen with cooperation with international scientific panel.

Neuron Prize for Young Talented Scientists

We award the prize to Czech scientists, (they achieve Ph.D. maximum 10 years befor the annual Neuron Prize is launched, considering maternal leave or others relevant causes for interruping the career), who already achieved outstanding scientific results and as encouragement for future work. The prize is accompanied by an individual gift of 500,000 Czech crowns and can be awarded to up to seven laureates.

JIŘÍ FRIML | Learn more about the plant biologist Jiří Friml, recent laureate of the 2019 Neuron Prize for Lifelong Contribution to Science in the field of biology. He received the prize for lifelong research into the plant hormone auxin, which makes the organisms of plants more resilient than those of humans.
