Popularisation of Science

Next to the Neuron Impuls and the Neuron Awards, we also focus on popularizing science. In addition to organizing our own activities, we also team up with other organizations to support projects that make science more accessible to the general public.

FUNDING REGULATIONS 2015

I. What projects do we support?

Our aim is to find, initiate and support bold and outstanding projects. Projects that bring new ideas into science popularization and that employ original tools to reach new target groups.

Since the Neuron Fund collaborates closely with the science community and pursues its own popularization activities, preference will be given to projects which we can actively join in at the level of program and concept.

Organizers of the funded projects and the Neuron Fund should develop a real partnership that would go beyond the supported activities and that would establish a long-term synergy between both parties, allowing for a close cooperation during the year and in the long run. Our grants are administratively simple and flexible with regard to the use of the grant money.

II. Eligibility

Entities based in the Czech Republic. Non-profit, publicly funded or semi-budgetary organizations; culture and education institutions, including schools and science institutes; limited liability companies; foundations, endowment funds, etc. Each applicant is required to submit a copy of the applying entity's by-laws, statutes, registration, etc.

III. Grant Amounts

The Neuron Fund primarily supports young Czech scientists and basic research projects. The science popularization program operates with a financial amount donated by Neuron's benefactors. The yearly amount should not be shared by a great number of projects. Instead, we would like to provide relevant support to projects that stand out for their original concept and long-term vision regarding science popularization and communication.

The Neuron Fund awards grants of CZK 50,000 up to, in exceptional cases, CZK 300,000.
The Neuron Fund reserves the right to determine the final grant amount on the basis of the project's quality, extent of its partnership with Neuron, and its financial merits.
